During the 1970s and onwards until the show was cancelled, Target Books published novel adaptations of Doctor Who episodes. The style of the cover art on these books—often hand-drawn, a mishmash of elements from the episode—has become somewhat iconic to Who fans in the decades since. You know a Target Book when you see one.
